ABOUT US
Knight Skye Farm is owned by Darryl Leifheit and Janeene Jennings-Leifheit. Although we appreciate and admire many breeds, our interest started with American Saddlebreds. We were impressed with the high headed, high stepping, elegant horses of our youth; like the fancy parade horses, the movie and TV horses, Fury, Trigger, Silver, Mr. Ed and Flicka. Most of those horses were full or part American Saddlebreds, “the horse America made”. As the majestic black horses, Friesians, became more popular in the US, we recognized many similarities between the two breeds. The Look At Me attitude, the regal bearing, and the high stepping motion of both breeds make an impressive package. We began to dream of the cross of the two breeds - what a blend that would be! Eventually we found that there was already a registry for the cross - see more on that in Breed Info - Georgian Grandes.
In recent years we've been a small breeding operation located just a few miles from the Kentucky Horse Park in the heart of the bluegrass. We've bred quality registered Saddlebred, Friesian and Georgian Grande foals throughout the last several years. We are now out of the breeding business and enjoy following the happy lives our "babies" are leading in their new homes throughout the country.
Darryl retired A Touch Too Much, his 5 gaited Saddlebred mare and is competing with Singsation, his formerly 5 gaited Saddlebred gelding in Combined Driving. Janeene rides/jumps both Bravo's Knight Watch, our American Saddlebred gelding and a very handsome and athletic Shire gelding, Duncan. She also does a bit of dressage with Zenobia, our Friesian mare.
Our love for the American Saddlebred has us actively promoting the breed in sporthorse disciplines on many fronts.

The question is not, "Can they reason?" nor, "Can they talk?" but rather, "Can they suffer?"
